The Tarkine in Tasmania's north west is a place of pristine natural beauty and the gateway to the edge of the world. Featuring vast rainforests, towering trees, buttongrass plains and wild rushing rivers, there are few places in the world that can match the Tarkine's magnificence. Tarkine Forest Adventures is located at Dismal Swamp, which contrary its name, is a place of magnificent beauty. It is the site of the largest sinkhole in the Southern Hemisphere and is surrounded by incredible scenery and an ancient blackwood forest that is home to some especially-adapted animals.

Slide into the Tarkine

Those seeking the thrill factor can take the 110-metre slide from the visitor centre through the tree canopy and experience the exhilarating rush of reaching the forest floor in less than 15 seconds. Completely safe, and suitable for children and adults, the slide is a once in a lifetime experience that will provide you with unforgettable memories of Tasmania.
World class mountain bike tracks
Featuring 13 kilometres of track winding through the pristine blackwood forest, the new facility is suitable for riders of all ages and ability levels.
The track incorporates three loops of varying difficulty that cater for beginners right through to the hard core cyclist. The trail enables riders to test their stamina and skills and the setting gives them the opportunity to get out and explore the area and take in the beauty of the Tarkine's blackwood forests first hand.
A great range of Diamondback mountain bikes suitable for children from eight years old to adults are available for hire from the visitor centre. The bikes have 27 gears, disk brakes, good suspension and padded seats and hire includes helmets.
The are available for one and three hour hire or for the full day. An exhilarating way to experience our forests!
